I took three months off from blogging on the website due to
the birth of my second daughter, Madison Elnora. I'm working on getting an
updated family picture on the website. We are now a family of four and
couldn't be happier!! In honor of our new addition I decided to have a
contest on facebook. The winner gets a box (the box that ships $5 anywhere)
stuffed with samples and/or products that I've gotten for free!! To
participate, first, "like" Key Money Saving Tips on Facebook. Second refer
friends to "like" Key Money Saving Tips. The person who refers the most
friends from now till two weeks from now WINS. Just so I know who refers
who, please comment on the key money saving tips facebook wall who you
referred. I'll add them all up and declare the winner on facebook. Thank you
for following this blog and recommending it to your friends!!

FALL
TWIG WREATH
Materials: thin twigs, 8" to 10" long; thick cardboard; ribbon; small
pinecones and fake berries; tacky glue.
1. Cut a wreath shape out of the cardboard using a pen knife or pair of
scissors.
2. Tie a length of ribbon in a loop at the top of the cardboard hoop for
hanging.
3. Apply a generous amount of glue to a 2 inch wide section of the cardboard
wreath and affix the twigs, one at a time, in a radiating pattern. Continue
until the cardboard hoop is completely covered.
4. Apply glue to the pinecones and bunches of berries and affix to the
wreath in a pattern of your choice.
5. Allow to dry thoroughly.
PRETTY PINECONE BOX
Materials: cardboard square; pinecones; tacky glue; air dry clay; brown
paint.
1. Form four long shapes out of clay, each the length of a side of the
cardboard square. Brush clay logs with glue and secure around the perimeter.
2. Dab glue onto the end of each pinecone and press into the clay to form
walls.
3. Allow the clay and glue to dry thoroughly.
4. Paint the clay brown and decorate as desired. Ex: fill the inside with
dried moss from the craft store
LEAF PRINT SATCHET
Materials: 1 rectangle of fabric, 14 inch x 36 inch; yarn and big-eye
needle; grommets and grommet setter (optional); ribbon or decorative roping;
buttons; fabric glue and paint; leaves
1. Fold the fabric rectangle in half the long way and stitch up the two
opposing sides with the needle and yarn.
2. Cut four holes in the rim of the bag, two on each side so they match up,
about an inch below the edge. If you like, you can use grommets and a
grommet setter to fortify holes. Cut two lengths of ribbon or decorative
roping and tie through each set of holes as the handles.
3. Decorate by sewing or gluing on buttons or ribbon and coating leaves in
paint and then pressing them into the bags in designs of your choice. Allow
to dry.
This would make a great trick or treat bag!!
PAPER- MACHE PUMKIN POTS
Materials: newspaper strips; white glue and water; balloons; orange and
black paint; green pipe cleaners and craft foam; hole punch.
1. Make a paste by mixing three parts glue with one part water.
2. Blow-up a balloon to about 4 to 5 inches in diameter.
3. Dip the paper strips in paste and apply to the balloon, leaving the knot
end (this will be top) uncovered. Cover the balloon in 4 to 5 layers of
paper. Allow to dry thoroughly, at least 24 hours.
4. Paint paper orange and allow to dry. Pop the balloon and remove.
5. Punch holes along the rim of the pumpkin and secure a pipe cleaner
through two holes as the handle.
6. Cut a leaf out of craft foam, punch a hole in one side and attach it the
pumpkin with pipe cleaner.
